“Nong Namwan, Tonrak Sae-Heng Very talented 11- year - old girl of SCG Academy”

One of the very talented young girls to watch for is Nong Namwan, Tonrug Sae-Heng, an 11- year - old Badminton player from Ketkaew Camp. He has become an outstanding role model for other children, with her outstanding performances in the 13 and under age group.

In the Badminton Battle of Youth, the 39th SCG Junior Championship in 2019 organized by SCG together with the Badminton Association of Thailand the winner won a scholarship worth 1,500,000 baht at the 5th court competition for the Bangkok and Metropolitan Championship matches at the Badminton Training Centre and Sports Science Nang Linchee Road 63 last 23-26 May.

In the end Nong Namwan was not be able to break into into the final round as she hoped. After losing in the playoffs to one of favorites, Narada Udornpim, 0-2 game 6-21 and 19-21, Nong Namwan couls only place 3rd in the women’s category with Nutnarin Rattanaphanuwong from Singha HH reaching the semi-final before losing to Anyapat Pichitpreechasak-Rasnacha Sompot from Bannthongyord 0-2 (13-21 and 7-21). Nevertheless, for an 11 year-old, Nong Namwan with her hard work has received a big thumbs-up from organisers and fellow sportspeople.

And, if you didn’t know, this competition is only the second one she has entered this year, after missing the competition for almost one year since joining the training course with SCG Badminton Academy Project one year ago, at the age of just 10 years 5 months. Her talent and versatility is remarkable.

‘Nong Namwan’ Tonrak Sae-Heng was born 2 December 2007 and is in Year 6 at Sarasas Ektra School. She began playing badminton at the age of 4 by following her father and mother who enkoyed playing badminton with friends one evening each week. Then her mother, who wanted to find leisure activities for her daughters, added Badminton skills at Sc Sport Club Rama II under the supervision of teacher ‘Pi Ta’ Suchittra Ekmongkonpaisarn, a famous Thai Badminton player who is her first coach.

After having the opportunity to take up the sport, Nong Namwan became passionate about Badminton and from the beginning practiced very hard every day with her younger brother ‘Tonkid Sae-Heng’, who at the age of nine is as skillful as his sister who had won a 11 year- old singles championship in the Bangkok Badminton Open 2017 when she was only nine years old.

Ms Praew, Anchalee Sae-Heng, mother of Tonrak, said that, since joining the SCG Badminton Academy Project, her daughter has not focused too much on competition and has experienced only two tournaments, but feels proud of her work because can see more development and maturity. It was not tiring, while Tonrak was doing well in her Year 4 studies, so her mother feels comfortable and not worried.

This top mom said that from now on Nong Tonrak does not have any competitions beside the SCG Junior Semi Final because The SCG Badminton Academy Project focuses on improving physical ability and basic movement skills, movement to develop cognitive functions of the brain and muscle strength training to develop the physical potential necessary for athletes, such as Coordination, Agility, and Reaction, etc. ensuring that Nong Namwan will be better developed in the long run.

Currently, Nong Namwan participates in the training program of the project and thinks of better development continuously. As a mother, Ms Praew does not worry because the SCG Badminton Academy Project is excellent and will help Tonrak to do even better in the final round, while in the long run she wants Nong Namwan to have an opportunity to serve the country as a member of the National Team.

The Badminton Battle in the tournament ‘SCG Junior Championship 2019 is the 39th final in the final round of the Thailand championship, so join in and cheer for Thai youth, including watching the style of Nong Namwan. These children will grow to be important forces of the national team in the future.
